Angelina Jolie previously opened up about the tender moment that son Maddox first called Brad Pitt his dad.

The 44-year-old Maleficent star spoke about the heartwarming life event in a 2007 interview with Vogue.

Ange had met Brad on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith a few years earlier and the 56-year-old Hollywood legend divorced Jennifer Aniston in 2005, after five years of marriage, so that he could be with Angelina.

The pair adopted Maddox, who is now 18, from an orphanage in Cambodia and Angelina was recalling the moment that he adjusted to his new parents and she realised that Brad had the potential to be a “wonderful father.”

It has been widely reported that during his mid-teenage years, Maddox had a few conflicts with Brad as they clashed on numerous occasions, with them still repairing the relationship now that he has reached adulthood.

Back in 2007 it was a different matter and Brad was showing he was the doting father and Maddox was loving it.

During the Vogue interview, Angelina was candid about their new family equation and how it all changed for her when she realised that Brad was “naturally just a wonderful father.”

Speaking at the time, Angelina said: “He just out of the blue called him Dad. It was amazing.

“We were playing with cars on the floor of a hotel room, and we both heard it and didn’t say anything and just looked at each other.

“And then we kind of let it go on, and then he just continued to do it and that was it.

“So that was probably the most defining moment when he decided that we would all be a family.”

The actress then went on to speak about the adoption of daughter Zahara, who was born in Ethiopia.

Angelina added: “It evolved in that way where he committed to them as a man commits to a child; it just happens emotionally when you make that internal decision, and you just behave accordingly. He’s just naturally there for them.”

Angelina and Brad split in 2016 and have been co-parenting their six children with Ange having them during the coronavirus lockdown period.
