PARIS, Sept 22 (Reuters) – French power group EDF (EDF.PA)and U.S. giant General Electric Co. (GE.N) said on Wednesday they were in exploratory discussions over a potential transaction related to the nuclear activities of GE Steam Power without mentioning the valuation of a potential deal.
“There is no certainty regarding the outcome of this work and of these exploratory discussions”, EDF said in a statement sent to Reuters.
“GE being one of EDF’s key partners in the nuclear business, EDF is currently analysing conditions under which the interests of the EDF Group would be best served”, the group added.
GE is EDF’s main supplier of conventional-island components for many French power plants like Flamanville-3 as well as Hinkley Point C in Britain. read more
Arabelle steam turbines, built in eastern France on a former Alstom (ALSO.PA) plant, constitute the bulk of activities that EDF would buy from GE if they strike a deal.
GE acquired Alstom’s power and grid business in 2015.
