Since a move past two buy points — 48.10 in cup with handle, 53.07 as a cup entry — the gains have now reached 89%; you obviously would want to preserve at least some of that gain. The 8-week hold rule has passed. I think a big break below the 10-week MA would be a good defensive sell signal. Fundamentals look strong. Good FY 2021 (June) eps estimate and good for FY 2022 too. How do we find the stocks that make up each industry grouping? In MarketSmith, if you go to the blue industry group link and then slide the right tab over and pick stocks in the group button. We don’t really use trailing stops. We have other sell rules instead that we use based on % gain/loss from the buy point, moving averages and other key support levels. Float = Shares Outstanding – Closely held by insiders. It’s what is “floating” out there for most people to trade. EXAS weak today Yes, but after big gains the prior two days. Looking fine. If you have a stock like AMD and are going to lighten up, should you sell your lowest cost basis shares and book profits (in tax deferred account) or sell high priced shares? Since it’s a tax deferred account it doesn’t really matter for your budget. But psychologically, Bill always used Last In First Out. Since he was always buying on the way up, if he made a mistake on later buys he would take that off and consider that he was holding his original purchases. Ed, do you still like ISRG? I do, but it’s not acting great. Trying to find support around the 21-day/10-week and around the prior buy point. Also has a 3wks tight that’s in the buy zone of the prior buy point. But, earnings are coming next week. If TSM goes up, do you think the entire semi industry will go up? Might be a good sign for customers such as AMD/AAPL/QCOM/NVDA, but hard to say. We already know what TSM’s sales are, so don’t know if earnings will be a b gi mover. Capital spending plans will be relevant for AMAT/LRCX/ASML etc. NARI – big upside move today; what to do? We discussed it earlier as an actionable stock — extending its gains now, be careful about buying too extended; we said you could size off the 21-day. It was 11% above that level at the time. It’s up another 3% since Is Costco a double bottom setup? For a true double bottom, the second leg down has to undercut the first Irusha, how many stocks are in your portfolio? I can’t help myself, buying a little bit of this and that, and now I have 30 positions, many “on the radar”! I have 8-10 main positions and a number of smaller positions to keep on the radar. I also have a number of portfolios and so I spread it around. I don’t recommend it. The best thing to do is focus on 8-10 positions. ABNB is it the right ipo base? Yes, working on an IPO base and already clearing some early entries from lower resistance levels in the base if you like LMND, see ROOT I’m always a little suspicious of a stock trading below its IPO price. IRUSHA — I did a “deep dive” into ABNB’s financials and they have done an outstanding job of cutting expenses . . . thus, I suspect once things turn around they will be well positioned. makes sense. that’s cool to hear. How can I use Marketsmith to flag those types of days for me? Honestly, I don’t remember. I have a few screens that I run to help narrow down what I look at. Glad to hear! I noticed that when I look at prices on a MSmith chart it no longer shows closing range? Am I missing a setting or some option to turn it back on? Turn on Pattern Rec. how do you set the alert on a mac after the line is drawn? Right click when you hover over the glowing line how do you turn off/on pattern rec? Click on the orange button to the left of the printer button Chris, another thing that can allow you to set the trendline alert is to go to the wrench and turn off real time and go to delayed while you put on the alert Good to know. Is there a way in MS to have an alert be audible in addition to email like a bell? You can set up push alerts on your phone with the marketsmith app. If your sound on your phone is on, you can get audio signal from alert can you have an alert on the android I can’t personally say since I have iPhone but we do have the app for both iPhone and android I’m pretty darn sure! “When do we get Alissa hosting again? she’s a natural.
