Gamers are still waiting to get their hands on Sony’s new PlayStation 5 console after months of waiting for new stock to land in UK stores.
Although the PS5 went on sale in November 2020, with shops closed due to England’s second national lockdown, it was near impossible to get hold of the console.
Pre-orders sold out in minutes and shoppers were faced with website glitches as they logged online to order and many have been left wondering if and when the device will ever come back into stock.
In December, Sony announced that more Playstation 5 stock would be available in stores before the end of 2020.

But it seemed only Amazon received stock before the new year and gamers once again had their hopes raised this week at rumours of more stock coming in.
Twitter accounts which frequently keep an eye out for stock were claiming PS5 consoles would be dropping into stores from January 7.
According to Twitter user @Ps5StockUK3, stores including Amazon, Argos and Curry’s were the most likely to receive stock.
However, you’ll have to be on the ball and it’s best to keep checking and make sure you have accounts set up with the main retailers with payment method ready to go.
We’ve taken a look at the latest updates from the retailers most likely to get stock and here’s what we found:
Online retailer Very shared a statement to its website, which reads: “Unfortunately we have sold out of our PS5 consoles for now. We have more stock coming so keep checking back for our next drop.”
Game no longer has PS5 stock available, with no update on when new stock will arrive.
Though, as one of the leading gaming retailers on the market, we would expect Game to be among the first to have new stock.
Despite some stock being available last week, Amazon’s website now says the retailer does not know “when or if” the PS5 will be back in stock.
Smyths has now sold out of its allocated stock. A message on the retailer’s website says that PS5 stock is now not expected until January 2021, meaning a restock could be arriving any day now.
According to Twitter user @MoonsUGN, who frequently shares PS5 stock updates, Smyths is expecting stock this month.

A statement on the John Lewis website said: “Thank you to everyone who has visited us and placed an order for a PS5. We are now out of stock.
“Unfortunately, PlayStation 5 consoles will not be available for purchase at our John Lewis & Partners shops or from our contact centres.”
Argos has not listed an update on when shoppers can expect more stock.
A note on AO’s website says: “Sorry, Playstation 5 is currently unavailable.”
